When I don't know what to do, I support those who do.
I always intended to do a #NonProfitSpotlight series to promote those who commit to doing good in this world. However, I didn't imagine the first of the series would hit so close to home.
The Atlanta-area spa shootings leave 8 dead, among them 6 Asian women. This comes after weeks of news of daily violent attacks against the Asian community, primarily targeted at Asian women and elders, across the country. How many of us are thinking of our own parents and grandparents who we fear may endure senseless acts of violence as they simply go on about their daily rituals, take a walk, etc.? We can't keep on like this. We need to see change in this world that allows us to sleep in our beds, go to work, live our lives, and speak on our experiences with a baseline sense of security, regardless of race.
Today's Well in Progress #NonProfitSpotlight is the Support the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Community Fund, that aims to amplify AAPI voices and find ways to uplift, empower, and protect the AAPI community, addressing urgent issues that face the AAPI community as well as broader, systemic problems.
Donations will support trusted AAPI organizations that work to rectify the racial inequalities in our society and empower and uplift the AAPI community, with initiatives such as increased community safety and support for those affected by violence.
